With reference to overhead conveyors, we are working on a new project where waste paper/cardboard packaging is to be continuously transferred from work stations to compactors. We shall be installing an overhead cable conveyor system to replace the present manual collection method where the waste material will be placed on moving carriers at the work stations. More details will be available when the system is operational. Also, positive progress has been made with the pilot scale overhead conveyor system previously reported and now installed and operating as part of a new method of growing salad products. This new process will progress to the production stage in the near future.
Finally, we have recently upgraded a mezzanine floor conveyor for a major customer. His existing unit required a new grip-face belt, extra safety guarding, improved controls with photo-sensors etc. The upgraded unit is now operating successfully moving boxes to and from the mezzanine floor. Upgrading of a conveyor may prove to be more cost-effective than buying a replacement.
