*Overhead Cable Conveyor.
- The overhead
cable conveyor as featured on our website was on display at the recent
PPMA Exhibition at NEC, Birmingham. The cable concept is relatively new
in the U.K. but very well established in France and elsewhere. It is used
particularly in the food industry – for moving pre-packed salads,
vegetables etc. It is also used in the automotive industry for moving light
weight car parts within assembly operations.
- It is very flexible, virtually maintenance free, very quiet in operation
and can be supported from above to release valuable floor space.
- With our wide experience of handling unit loads, we would always recommend
the optimum solution, whether it’s an overhead, belt or roller conveyor-
or even a
combination.

*When is a Conveyor not a Conveyor?
- The electric blanket project we mentioned in our previous RCS News has
now been delivered to the controls/testing company before being installed
at the end-user’s Birmingham factory. We call it a conveyor, but is
it! You will see from the picture that beneath the top cover there is a
shaft fitted with several pulleys, each fitted with 20 mm diameter polyurethane
belts. The belts help pull the blankets through the machine where they are
electrically tested as part of QA procedures. Perhaps it is simply a handling
device? The shaft is driven by a direct connected right angle geared motor
to drive the pulley belts at the 15m/minute in a forward or reverse direction.
*Good News - QD Conveyor Range in Aluminium Construction
- The QD Conveyor range is now available in aluminium construction giving
three options - painted mild steel (standard), plus stainless steel and
now aluminium as special options.
- The new option will not be using pre-engineered aluminium sections, but
aluminium sheet - so it's appearance will be very similar to the clean,
streamline appearance of the other options. It's main attraction is the
lightweight construction and the ability to easily relocate the conveyor
to suit changing layout requirements.
